New-born Spring

New-born Spring by Isabel Boo
Beautiful spring buds emerge
from the knots and wounds
of a once withered tree—
jade-colored pearls soon to blossom
into new-born kin of mine, of me.

See myself in that tree,
buds emerging from the tips of my fingers,
from the knots and wounds of my body,
alive once again after the fading of winter
into new-born spring.
